Pipe Bursting in Coquitlam
Pipe bursting replaces a failed sewer lateral by pulling new pipe through the old path while fracturing the host pipe outward. Typical residential work uses small pits at each end of the repair section - still excavation, but usually far smaller than trenching the full run under a Coquitlam driveway or backyard.

Pull the new pipe
A bursting head fractures the old pipe outward while new pipe is pulled into the same alignment.

Connections are completed, pits are backfilled, and surface restoration is scoped to what was opened - not a full yard rebuild by default.
What influences cost
We do not publish fixed prices here. Length, access, cleaning, and surface cover vary too widely on Tri-Cities lots. These are the factors that usually shape an estimate:
- Length and depth of the section being replaced
- Pipe material and diameter of the new line
- Pit locations relative to paving, deck footings, or utilities
- Soil conditions and groundwater at pit locations
- Restoration of asphalt, concrete, or landscaping at access points

Is pipe bursting trenchless?
It is a trenchless replacement method, but it still needs excavation at access pits. The point is avoiding a continuous open trench along the full lateral under finished Tri-Cities surfaces.
When is bursting better than lining?
When the host pipe is too damaged to support a liner - collapses, large offsets, or geometry that will not accept CIPP. Video decides; preference does not.
Will my driveway be opened?
Sometimes a pit lands in paving if that is the cleanest access. Often pits can be placed at edges or softscape. We mark that before work starts so surface impact is not a surprise.
